2 Back Face Off System
BEGINNER TRANSITION SYSTEM
- This is a basic offensively oriented face-off set up, with 2 defenders on the defensive restraining line and two offensive players on the offensive side restraining line; all players having a set responsibility.
- The two players on the offensive side of the ball are usually two offensive specialists with good loose ball ability, while the other 2 players on the defensive side of the ball are usually defensive specialists with good loose ball ability.
- All players should have their "sticks to the outside," in order to be able to help protect their stick in a loose ball situation (also helping box-out their opponent), which also leaves the offensive players on their proper floor sides should a fast-break opportunity present itself.
- Whichever side the ball comes out of the face-off circle on, the defensive and offensive player on that side of the floor should pursue the ball. The other defensive player becomes the safety on the play, making sure no opponents get behind the defense for a breakaway opportunity. The other offensive player either joins the scrum for the loose ball or cheats for a breakaway if the opportunity presents itself.
